I went last year. It was a lovely run on the Saturday. It started just after breakfast in Middelkerke, N Belgium and was divided into four sections so that the slower veteran motorcycles could catch up with the likes of a 1930 Norton CS1.
While it is a relatively small event (about 145 motorcycles last year), it is extremely well organised. This is surprising, given that there wasn’t a hi-vis jacket in sight.
Hans Devos (of HD-Classics) is one of the organisers. He, and the team, are the hosts. It’s extremely friendly. There are modest camping facilities on site. You are invited to keep your bike in the large barn on site if you need the space in your van for accommodation.
2024 Friday sprint races at Where is Anna motorcycle event Middelkerke Belgium
The biggest surprise, was the Friday afternoon informal sprints on the stubble field opposite the venue. It seemed that anything goes as long as it’s vintage and authentic. You choose your opponent, line up, and fire yourself down the “1/4 mile”. The best part is there are no prizes for winning. It’s just the honour. See some of last year’s clips here on TheTimingChest.
The event is closed off on Saturday night with a fantastic BBQ and, of course, copious quantities of strong Belgian beer.
