I looked out for one of these for a very long time. They made the single port version in 1930, but I was after a twin port. Apart from the performance, I think it looks a little more balanced. It needed to be 1930, so I can have a chance of going on the Banbury Run and I couldn’t stretch to the earlier flat tank version.
I have a little 250cc Model 14 Sunbeam. It’s the little brother to this bike, but it still keeps up with A-road traffic. However, this Model 9 is both comfortable and comparatively rapid. I understand it was also one of the most ordered of the Marston Sunbeams.
Looking forward to having a few runs on this during the Summer.
