1915 2 3/4 Douglas Flat Tank veteran motorcycle project

1915 2 3/4 Douglas Flat Tank veteran motorcycle project

This is a rare opportunity to buy 1915 Douglas 2 3/4 vintage / veteran motorcycle project.

In 1915, hostilities in Europe had already broken out. Supplies of Bosch magnetos were dwindling, so motorcycle manufacturers like Douglas switched to the American Dixie. This project could use either, I suppose.

Douglas produced variations of the 2 3/4 Model in 1915.However, they simply carried over the models T, U, V, W and Ladies model X from 1914 as they worked on supply of the WD machines.

I’ve done my best to investigate which of those models this is but there are others who will have a much clearer idea on the specific model. Identification is slightly unclear as the frame does not have a number and the owner had been “adapting” it. We think he was heading in the direction of a TT Douglas. Anyway, it looks like the work is can be reversed.

The good news is that we can supply an original Green log book with this frame. The frame number is 20264, so it’s within the date range for 1915 registered motorcycles. While it comes with a log book, it is not a valid registration document any more, so you will need to join the Douglas Club and get their assistance for UK registration.

The engine case number is 21104, also dating it to 1915.

This is a project. It does not necessarily have all of the parts to complete the bike, so please look at the list below and the images. This is being offered on behalf of friends, who are in possession of several vintage and veteran Douglas motorcycle projects. Most of them will be sold.

IMPORTANT: You may see other parts in the images. They are not included, so please use the list below as your definitive list. Other parts / spares will be sold separately.

    • Frame – # No number (but see text regarding an old log book)
    • Engine case – 1915 #21104
