Rebuilt 1920’s T25 AMAC Carb.
Would suit mid-size vintage motorcycles.
Vintage brass, or bronze, carburettor for mid-1920’s flat tank motorcycles. Mid-size engines suit this T25 Amac carb.
I only have a parts catalogue that runs from 1923 to the late 1920’s when AMAC was swallowed-up by AMAL.
The lower stamp appears to read “P19?” The other stamp is very feint but begins with “T25” then a “P” and the last two letters are very difficult to read.
However, when I look at my catalogue, the only years that AMAC stamped their carbs with three letters were 1926 and 1927. Coincidentally, it was also the same period where the three letters began with a “P”. So, I think it’s safe to assume that this T25 AMAC Carb is from 1926/7.
They offered two main types of T25. One had a top-feed float chamber and the other one was like this one, with a bottom feed. I think it’s reasonable to assume that the numbers on this carb are probably T25PJY, as that is the bottom feed T25 AMAC Carb from 1926/7.
There was one further difference between models. The eagle-eyed among you will note the shiny long intake tube. It should actually be a “mushroom intake” as the Touring model of the T25 had one. As I don’t have a spare mushroom intake cover, I have fitted the Sporting version with the long intake. (It is brass but it has been nickel coated).
- Note that this combination has the bottom feed on the float chamber.
- It has just been rebuilt
- Rebored
- 2 new slides
- Many new parts
When it was refurbished, great care was taken to preserve what’s left of the nickel plate. It’s aged and with marks. But it is just how I like them, with a little patina. Please look at the images.
- Outside diameter of the manifold: 1-1/8″
- Inside diameter of the manifold: 1″
Condition of the T25 AMAC Carb.
This carb has just come back from a reputable brass carb restorer. He took it apart, re-bored it and replaced everything that was necessary.
As I like my carbs with as much original patina as possible, a great deal of care was taken to preserve the patina while performing a full restoration.
The great work is on the inside, where you want it. Of course, if you like your carbs shiny, you can have it nickel plated.
I have taken it apart and shown the parts.
Other vintage motorcycle brass carburettors
Other than this T25 AMAC Carb, I have a few available. These include some remote needle TT carbs and some more brass carbs including Amal. See the vintage motorcycle carburettors for sale here.
Sometimes, I put a notice up on TheTimingChest Facebook page letting everyone know that something interesting is about to become available. It may be worth following the page.
