1921 Vintage Sturmey Archer 3-speed CS gearbox Medium Weight with Clutch & belt drive, Brough Norton others

The Sturmey Archer CS gearbox was usually used with flat tank Nortons. Known to have been used on Brough, Matchless, and others. The good thing about CS gearboxes is that they didn’t change much over the years. Consequently, a 1928 box ought to fit, and line up correctly, on a 1919 bike.
Overall, this gearbox appears complete. I have checked the cases and the cover for cracks. I haven’t spotted any. The gears all turn. It comes with the belt drive pulley as you see it. It’s not rusted to death. The pulley edges will need re-shaping a touch.
It also comes with the clutch as you see it. After years of being stored, I suspect it will all need freeing off. I’m not going to take it apart. It’s being sold as you see it and needing a rebuild. I believe this clutch type was supplied until the end of 1925. The sprocket is 30T . (From 1926, they were supplied with a 34 tooth clutch according to the original brochure.)
For peace of mind, consider that you will still have to take the gears out, check any bushes and shafts, re-grease and install. I have removed the outer cover to show that the gears are clean and there. The inside of the outer cover has “53878” which matches the main casing number. So, the main case and outer cover are a matched pair from factory.
One other minor identifying stamp is “GG” on the outside of the front cover.
