1926 – Early Douglas EW 350cc SV Gearbox with kick start lever.
This gearbox still retains the original black outer cover paint. It turns nicely on the kick start and the main shaft rotates.
The gearbox has a 4-stud mount that fixes to the platform behind the engine. The later ones clamped to the frame tubes. It also has the letters “RG”, placing it around 1926.
The number is RG451. The main casing, together with the inner and outer casings are all stamped with matching numbers (T59).
Overall, it’s in decent condition. I have not restored it, so you’re buying a gearbox that rotates when you move the kickstart. There are no obvious cracks or repairs. It comes with the mount studs and gearbox adjuster. The adjuster unscrews from the stud easily but the end adjustment nut will need to be freed off. The underside of the cases show some some corrosion (shown) but the cases are still sound. The kickstart lever has been weld-repaired.
