1927, 1928, 1929 Douglas EW350 Vintage classic motorcycle gearbox.
RG/A, RG/B and RG/C stamps before the gearbox number denote the EW350 model gearbox that clamped around the frame rails. It was introduced in 1927. I believe it continued until some time during 1929.
This one even comes with a set of frame rails clamped on. No, I didn’t cut the frame. That’s how I received the gearbox. However, it looks like someone has made a small adaptation to the drive arrangement. They have removed the outer cover and added a pulley.
It turns smoothly and the gear selector moves OK. As usual, I would advise that you disassemble the gearbox for a full inspection and clean. I have done my best to show you the condition and what’s included without completely taking each gear and shaft out.
The main case and inner cover have matching numbers as shown in the images. Both are also stamped with “X”. I guess this was the inspector’s mark.
I also currently have an incomplete gearbox available. If it’s still listed with a price, then it’s available.
You don’t see these 1920’s Douglas motorcycle gearboxes come up for sale very often. So, if you have a 1927, 1928, 1929 Douglas EW350, it might do as a spare.
