J.A.P. (JA Prestwich) 600cc 1928 Side Valve part-engine.
This JAP SV has matching cases and the following numbers: UCZ/F 5237/5
U= 600cc C= 1928 Z= Dry Sump Lubrication (according to my records). So it is designed for oil pump lubrication. That was a relatively new thing in 1928. It was probably originally supplied as an industrial engine but see no reason why it couldn’t be used in an old motorcycle.
The engine is being sold for rebuild.
The part-engine comes with the crank with connecting rod and matching case halves. The cases are in decent condition, considering how old they are. The engine case halves have matching numbers. The number on the connecting rod looks like 11488.
Overall, this 1928 JAP 600cc Side Valve engine is in decent condition and is a good start for a nice engine build.
Please note: I have two more 1928 600cc SV JAP engines, and a barrel. They are not included in this sale but are available if you’d like them as spares. One of the engines is almost complete. Please ask.
