SOLD – Off to Sweden
1930 up to 1934 Norton ES2, Model 18, Cylinder head & barrel. Well, I think it’s for an ES2 / Model 18. I’m sure someone far cleverer than me will advise if I’m wrong.
Much debate took place when I advertised the other early Norton cylinder head that I have advertised. Most people seemed to believe it was for an engine dated around 1930 to 1931. This cylinder head is very similar in profile. The post-1934 heads changed profile. There was less of a curve to the top fins.
The fins on the head are pretty good overall but there is one broken (3rd fin up, just on the right side near the exhaust – shown in the pictures). There are also some broken ones on the lower part of the timing side (indicated). The combustion chamber isn’t too bad.
The fins on the barrel are good overall but there are some broken on the timing side, near the top. See the images. Barrel is about 79.5mm
The threads on both the exhaust and inlets are good. They will need a clean but they aren’t mangled.
The bore is rough. The studs will need to be replaced.
