Gone to a good home
1935 vintage motorcycle Val Page Triumph 250cc 2/1 project with V5c and original number.
Where else can you get a 1930’s rigid framed OHV Triumph with a V5 at this price?
- OHV engine is original.
- Gearbox appears to be the original one
- Girder forks
- Original paint
- comes with carburettor, magneto, all foot pegs, chain guard, rear stand, primary cover and even the horn.
This Val Page Triumph 250cc 2/1 project is almost all there.
Plans have changed and I have been offered a project that suits my needs better. So, I have decided that I won’t be storing this project for the next five years. It’s time for it to go.
It comes with the original, transferable, number with the V5c. The registered document is in my name as I planned to keep this ’30s Triumph for my collection. It has remained as you see it, with oil and grime from many years of motoring. I only planned to change what was necessary and then clean it. I didn’t want to restore it as the bike’s history would be removed. The new owner can do what they like. I just happen to like vintage motorcycles with patina.
Under the muck, this is a very nice bike that is almost complete.
I have a few parts that are not in the images. They will be included. In particular, front and rear hubs. They are very shiny but I think they are the right parts.
If you would like to see what a finished version of this Val Page Triumph 250cc 2/1 project looks like, please see the page on the Triumph motorcycle owner’s club site.
What does this Val Page Triumph 250cc 2/1 project need?
Apart from a complete rebuild with new cables, bushes and bearings…. and lots of love.
It will need an appropriate saddle. The saddle in the images isn’t correct.
Handlebars: It needs handlebars but the levers are still attached to the cables.
Forks: the handlebar clamps. I have made no attempt to assess the forks, other than a glance. They move as they should.
Engine: It probably needs a rebuild as it is unknown to me. It turns over OK.
Gearbox: Much the same as the engine. The oil / inspection cap is missing.
Frame: It appears to have the original paint. Very light surface blemishes but this frame is sound.
Tin: Original. It even still retains the original number plates and the rear mudguard section.
Petrol tank: It probably needs a good clean out and is missing the cap. The caps can be bought online.
Wheels: I have some hubs but wheels will need to be rebuilt as there are no rims.
As you can see it doesn’t need much, except time.
Viewing, collection / delivery.
Viewing: You are very welcome to come and see it before you buy. The bike is stored close to St Ives in Cambridgeshire. Post code begins with PE28. It is by appointment only.
Collection / delivery: I would prefer it if the project was collected. If you want it delivered, it needs to be paid for in advance along with suitable reimbursement for my time and fuel. As this is not a rolling project, it is not suitable for a courier collection. I will not be putting it on a pallet either.
Payment: Bank transfer is preferred but I can also receive PayPal or cash.
Other Triumph parts
Because I collect vintage Triumph motorcycles, I happen to keep quite a few parts. Please see the Triumph spare parts here.
