NOW SOLD

1956 BIG Bearing Pre-unit 650cc Triumph 6T Thunderbird engine 9-stud barrels, inc Lucas K2F Mag

  • The engine turns over by hand
  • All of the timing gears are there
  • It has the Lucas K2F magneto attached, dated Sept 1955.
  • The cases have matching numbers
  • The engine number is clear and unmolested
  • Barrel fins are nice

This engine is currently fitted with a 9-stud barrel. I imagine the cylinder head that you will need is E3663 with 9 stud holes. I happen to have one, but it has the usual repaired cracks next to some of the stud holes. It’s not for sale with this engine, but could be bought at a very sensible price.

The cases have some intriguing stamps on the inner timing cover and both of the engine cases. They look like two squares, side-by-side. I can only imagine this was the assembler. Maybe a rebuild at a later stage. I’ve never seen this mark, but I saw something similar with a close-fin ali Triumph motor that I owned and was built for racing. Anyway, they exist and if you know what they are, I’d like to know.

The K2F mag is a bonus really. I have no idea if it works.
