750cc JAP V-Twin front engine barrel vintage motorcycle engine part.
Complete barrel with good fins for a 50 degree JAP twin cylinder side valve SV engine.

This 750cc JAP V-Twin front engine barrel has a detachable cylinder head and the revised J.A.P. script. They changed the font for “JAP” to the script “JAP” version in 1926. That’s the only clue that I have regarding the age of the barrel. Of course, I could be wrong.
There were two 50-degree JAP V-twins with barrels measuring 70mm as standard. They made a 680cc (70 x 88) with the stamp GT. They also made the 750cc (70 x 97) with the engine stamp beginning with MT.
I think this is the longer stroke barrel but I can’t be 100% as there are no clear marks inside the barrel to indicate the stroke. The inside length of the barrel is 165 mm, so I think the stroke would have been 97mm. Hence my surmising that this is a .
The barrel is stamped “+0.020” on the underside. I have shown it in the images.
The numbers inside the cover are:
- Cast onto the cover: 12880 L
- Cast onto the barrel: MO 19723 (it could be 10723)

Overall, this barrel is in decent condition. Some of the fins on the side of the cylinder head has some chips. The fins on the barrels are good. As you can see from the images, the valves & springs etc are fitted and it comes with the cover.
The threads for the carb manifold are good. The exhaust port threads are OK. They could do with a bit of tidying up.
I have not attempted to undo the cylinder head bolts. They are tight and I will leave that up to you.
The inside of the barrel is not too bad. It will probably need honing but there are no nasty gouges.
