NOW SOLD – AJS Matchless Gearbox Transmission with internals and cover.
I believe the gearbox is for the models: G80 G9 G11 G12. The main case has cast number 040402 and the outer cover has 040400. So, please verify for yourself that this box is what you need before you buy. The unique number is M3401.
It came with a Triumph engine that I wanted, so this AJS Matchless gearbox is not needed.
I took the outer cover off. There are a few nuts and machine screws missing. I loosened the inner cover from the main case, just to take a glimpse at the condition of the gears. At a glance, they seem ok, but I am going to cover myself and state that the box is being sold for rebuild. Just an empty case seems to be £100, so my price is very reasonable for what you get here.
