Ariel vintage motorcycle Owners’ guide 500 & 550cc models from 1929.
This is an original small booklet produced by Ariel works Ltd in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
It measures approximately 6.5″ x 4″.
It has 48 internal pages filled with useful information and settings. There are illustrations and tables.
Some of the topics covered include:
- Starting instructions
- Fault finding
- The engine including lubrication and basic maintenance like decarbonisation.
- There’s a section on the oil pump.
- Magneto including timing
- Carburation
- Transmission
- Wheels and brakes
Tables include:
- Fault finding
- Valve timing
- Gear ratios
- Tyre pressures
- Gear ratios / miles per hour
Condition is generally good. No nasty damage. The stapes are showing a little rust but they hold the pages well. It’s good / used and with a general grubbiness that you would expect from a motorcyclists booklet that is now 94 years old.
So, if you have an AJS from the late 1920’s then this Ariel vintage motorcycle Owners’ guide covering the 500 & 550cc models, would be a useful booklet to own. The tables, in particular, are useful.
