Before 1925 vintage Raleigh motorcycle fuel tank Models 5, CA & possibly others. It might suit the Model 2. You decide.
You can still just make out the original Raleigh script on the side.
I have to confess to not being a Raleigh specialist. After a little research, I believe this Raleigh petrol tank is for the 1924 motorcycles, and earlier. The main factor in this suggestion is the existence of the hand oil pump on the left side. It appears that Raleigh made changes to the engine oiling system around 1925.
When comparing with the V-twin Raleighs, the fuel / oil caps are too close together on the twins, to resemble this tank.
Anyway, I am sure I will be put right by someone who has detailed Raleigh knowledge.
Condition of the vintage Raleigh motorcycle fuel tank
It’s unrestored but basically solid. It will need a good clean out. There is one dink on the top left edge. You can see this in the images.
At the rear (on the top) there appears to be two small repairs. I have not disturbed them. They appear to be old.
The threads seem OK. I have shown a few close-up images to give you a better idea on condition.
There are no caps with this tank. It is being sold just as you see it.
