BSA B31 B33 ZB gold star Rocker covers 65-1160/59 together with BSA B31 / B33 Cylinder head 65-1157.
Why is this head so much more than others? Well, it’s complete and comes with the rocker caps and rockers that are missing on other B31 / B33 heads. The caps are sought after too.
The cylinder head is 65-1157. It comes complete with valves. It need a clean but the fins are generally good. It also comes with the valve lifter.
This set of BSA B31 B33 ZB gold star Rocker covers 65-1160/59 are used and will need a clean. They could be sold separately to a BSA Gold Star enthusiast, but I’d prefer to sell the head and rocker covers in one go.
My 1946 BSA parts book lists the rocker covers (65-1160 and 65-1159) for the BSA B31 / B32. The cylinder head for 1946 is listed as part number 65-1156.
My 1951 / 1952 BSA parts book lists the rocker caps (65-1160 and 65-1159) for both the 35occ and 500cc Gold Star, as well as the following B-series models: B31, B32, B33, B34 (including the one with the alloy cylinder head and barrel. Finally, the M33 also used these caps.
In 1951 / 52, the cylinder head is still listed ast part number 65-1156. I guess 65-1157 is the later revised type with better fins.
Condition of the BSA B31 / B33 Cylinder head 65-1157
The threads for the exhaust header and spark plug are fine. They will need a clean, much like the rest of the head.
The combustion chamber is OK. As you can see, the valves are fitted.
As mentioned already, it comes with the pair of rocker caps. They are in good, used, condition. The valve lifter moves as it should. The rocker arms have free movement too.
On the BSA B31 / B33 Cylinder head 65-1157, the fins are generally good. The are two chips as shown in the images. They are both on the lower fin.
