BSA Bantam George Todd centre plug Cylinder head for Pre ’65 Trials bikes or Racing motorcycles.

George Todd’s centre plug cylinder heads are the stuff of legend. Anyone who wants extra performance from their Bantam will hanker after a Todd Head. The combustion chamber is a different shape and the spark plug is fitted right in the centre of the head. It all seemed to work very well and 12,5:1 compression is not unknown.

The centre plug cylinder head has been kicking around in a box for way too long. It’s time for someone else to put it to use.

Please read this bit. This head doesn’t have either GT100A or GT100B cast on the underside. So, I can’t tell you if it’s the short reach (1/2″ plug reach GT100A) or the long reach (3/4″ plug reach GT100B). But, I can give you some dimensions for you to decide if it’s the head that you want.

  • The combustion chamber diameter is 56mm.
  • The stud spacing (centre to centre) is 55mm. This suggests it’s for the later D1 models and all D3’s. (I understand that 52mm diameter is for early D1’s and 60mm diameter is for all 175’s.)

Although the head is dirty, it’s all good. The fins are decent with tiny nicks here and there, The plug thread is fine.
