Douglas 1928 / 1929 Original steel petrol fuel tank EW 600, or the EW 600 Sport?
This tank came to me with a later frame. The frame has been sold as the new owner wanted a 1931 / 32 frame. This original steel saddle tank fitted the E32 Touring model frame but it wasn’t correct as the E32 had oil in the engine sump and not contained in the tank. So, my best guess is that it’s for a 600cc 1928 or 1929 Douglas EW600, EW 600 Sport, F28 or F29 SV motorcycles.
Whichever model it belongs to, it is a very early saddle tank as they still offered some bikes with flat tanks in 1929.
The tank is quite difficult to find
The tank has a low profile indent in the top. With gentle persuasion, this may come out. The tank seems solid but will need a clean out after many years of storage. The surface of the tank is not smooth. It will need a bit of work.
