Genuine 1″ bore AMAL AJS Model 16 / Matchless G3 Carburettor 76AE/1AK 1950 – 1953
You can new versions of this carb. It will cost you around £480.
Or, you can buy this original carb with the float bowl. It has missing parts, but they can be bought. I’m selling it as it is as it belongs to a friend.
So, if you have an AJS Model 16MS, or a G3 Matchless that sits between 1948 and 1953, then I believe this is the correct Amal carburettor:76AE/1AK.
I have seen these advertised for the 350cc OHV AJS / Matchless engines as early as 1948. But I only have access to one Amal catalogue and that lists the following motorcycles as having this carburettor:
- AJS 16M / 16MC / 16MS between 1951 – 1953
- ALS 16 MCS between 1950 and 1953
- Matchless G3C / G3L / G3LS between 1951 and 1953.
