Lucas DU42 pre-1947 domed glass vintage motorcycle headlight, 6-1/2″.
I have had this a long time. It came to me from a friend who bought a 1938 Triumph Tiger 80. This was fitted to the motorcycle and he wanted an earlier flat glass Lucas lamp with a brass cone.
The DU42 was widely used on many motorcycle brands, pre 1947, when the MU42 was introduced.
Condition of the Lucas DU42 pre-1947 domed glass headlamp.
I believe the headlight is original. However, I am not convinced that the Lucas switch and ammeter are original. The main cone has been heavily painted, so I can’t be sure that this is a DU42. It just has all of the features of one. Consequently, I will let it go for the price of a “lookalike”. It may even be a “lookalike”.
It comes as you see it. With 2 correct stays and 2 funny little flat chrome things. It has the wiring as it was when my friend removed it from his Triumph T80.
6 1/2″ headlamp unit with painted and chrome rim, complete with lighting and charging switch (U39) panel and ammeter, equivalent to the Lucas DU42 model.
I have shown the condition of the internal wiring. Please take a good look at the pictures.
Other headlamps
Other than this Lucas DU42 pre-1947 domed glass light, I have a few more, including an earlier version with obscured flat glass. Please take a look here.
