Possibly for Velocette Venom, or the 700cc Royal Enfield Constellation, others?
As I understand it, the Royal Enfield Constellation is supplied with one of these carburettors and a 7 Degree bowl. The Velocette Venom has a 7 degree down draft, so it’s likely that this might be used on a Venom.
I am led to believe that the set up with the Velo is critical, or it will drip fuel after tickling. I am told that the float needs to be clipped in the bottom notch. Then make the distance between the centre of the float bowl and the front of the flange 2-1/2″ (AMAL say 2-9/14″). In the real world, start at 2-1/2″ and then rotate the float chamber back until it stops dripping.
The Amal 10TT9 carburettor is a vary variable instrument. Most people use them for improved performance. You can change the main jet and needle jet to suit your needs. You could even swap the 7 degree float bowl for a 15 degree one and have a TT carb for your Norton.
However, the through flow bore is 1-1/8″. Check your needs.
The distance between the mounting studs is 2″ (or about 50mm).
Condition of this Amal 10TT9 carburettor
Overall, it’s good. It’s not perfect but then again, it’s not the price of a new one at £771.
It’s used. The main slide shows wear but it fits well in the bore. There is no wobble.
The is no Air Valve Kit. The complete kit can be bought from Burlen & other suppliers including Surrey Cycles and possibly Hitchcocks.
The images are the best way to check each item. I have taken the carb apart and shown the things in the images. Things like the tickle work and the float is nice and clean.
