Original & refurbished 2-jet Binks brass carburettor.
NOTE: PICTURES are of the Carb before refurbishment. I have shown the carb on here before I have collected it from the carb specialist. It is available for one person to consider. If he decides that he doesn’t want it, I will re-photograph it to show it post-rebuild and will add a price to the site.
Likely for mid-late 1920’s New Hudson or AJS Big Port models such as the 1927 498cc H5, or the 1928 K8. The main significant difference between this brass carburettor and other Binks models, is the threaded inlet manifold. I don’t know if it suited other makes and models, but the threaded attachment to the cylinder head was definitely an AJS / New Hudson thing. It has been configured for AJS 498cc single cylinder models from the late 1920’s. See the settings, jets and dimensions below.
The Binks brass carburettor comes with the float bowl, a genuine original Binks float bowl cap and twin-pull top. Note that the chamber is bottom feed.
The stamped numbers and letters are:
- KBS
- AO 369 (or possibly “389”)
- MSO
Condition of the 2-jet Binks brass carburettor.
I sent the carb off to a an early brass carburettor refurbishment specialist. He has checked the bore for wear and has repaired / replaced items as necessary. It has been re-bored and has a new slide that works as it should. The carburettor comes as a working instrument. You will need to set it up correctly for your needs.
It has the original spring clip that holds the cap on the float bowl.
Other early carbs and Binks brass carburettors:
I have a few interesting early brass carbs, including Binks, Amac and Amal. Follow this link to see the current range of original brass carburettors for veteran and vintage motorcycles.
