SOLD – Original Smiths 0-12,000 RPM Tachometer A.T.R.C. Racing Rev Counter

NOW SOLD – going to Germany

Competition Smiths 0-12,000 RPM Tachometer anti-clockwise A.T.R.C. Racing Rev Counter with the original (and very rare) mount.

This Smiths ATRC racing tacho sits in the original mount which comprises inner and outer housing rings connected by an over-sized rubber band.

These are hard enough to find. They are especially difficult to find with this mount. The dial is 80mm / 3″ and it has the correct machined ali housing. The bezel is chrome that was made in satin finish to reduce glare. There is a small scrape on the bezel (shown) and there are marks from age on the body and mount. Please study the images. If you have any questions, please ask before you buy. Thanks.

The number on the dial reads: A.T.R.C 2654/1/N. I believe this model was supplied for use on racing NSU’s  for the works bikes and Sportsmax production racers. The Gilera 4-cylinder factory bikes used the 12,000 rpm anti-clockwise versions.  The MV Augusta racers apparently also used them. Smiths supplied white faced dials on the competition tacho’s for MV and the V8 Moto Guzzi.  I also understand that CZ and Jawa used Smiths tachometers. The stated ratio on the face is 4-1.

Does it work? Well I haven’t tested it on a motorcycle. I just tested it carefully with a drill. It works. Can I guarantee the accuracy? Er, no…

Replicas without the mountings start at £900. You choose. A new one without the mount or an original one with the original mount.
