Original Smiths S467/3/L 0-120MPH speedometer 1954 1955 Vincent & Ariel models.
If you are after a nice shiny refurbished Smiths Chronometric speedo, then this is probably not for you. I have been holding onto this speedometer as I like the look of the patina. It will suit a survivor motorcycle as it is.
I have never run it on a bike, but it does turn.
It’s not being sold as a refurbished speedometer. If it works properly when installed, then you’ve had a result. It is being sold on the basis that it may need restoration.
From a little research the Smiths S467/3/L Chronometric 0-120MPH speedometer is for the following vintage motorcycles. It may suit others, but the list below is from a Smiths Catalogue. I believe ratio is 1600 and suitable for a 19″ x 3.25 rear wheel. Best do your own research though, if you’re not sure.
VINCENT:
- 1955 / 1956 Vincent Victor 499cc
- 1955 / 1956 Vincent Black Knight 998cc
ARIEL:
- 1955 Ariel Huntmaster 650cc
- The rest are all 1954 / 1955
- Ariel Square Four 1000cc
- Ariel Red Hunter 500cc + pivoting rear fork version
- Ariel 500cc Competition and Trials versions
- Ariel OHV Twin 500cc
- Ariel Side Valve 600cc
- Ariel 650cc OHV parallel twin
If you happen to own a mid-50’s Ariel or Vincent, this Smiths S467/3/L 0-120MPH speedometer might suit your needs.
