Rebuilt AMAC Brass carburettor T25 HXDM Ready to use with top-feed float chamber

£328.00

Rebuilt AMAC Brass carburettor T25 HXDM specification with top-feed float chamber.

For vintage motorcycles from the 1920’s. It was made and supplied in 1923 and 1924.

It will suit mid-to-light size motorcycles.

Ready to use.

1920’s vintage motorcycle mid-size AMAC Brass carburettor that has been completely rebuilt with many new parts. I have photographed the various internal parts that were easy to remove. It does have a jet. I just didn’t remove it.

This T25 AMAC Brass carburettor is listed in my 1923 / 1924 AMAC parts list. This carb started out life as the HYDM model, and not the spec of the HXDM. The AMAC T25 HYDM is the “Touring Model” in the range. It was supplied with a bottom feed float chamber. So, this is the incorrect float bowl for the original spec. The top feed float chamber was fitted to the same carb body but it was stamped with HXDM instead.

Strictly speaking, the HYDM model should have a screw on small filter that was commonly known as the “mushroom filter”. So, I am supplying this carb with a new long inlet tube that the “Sporting” model would have had fitted.

Bottom line, although the body has HYDM stamped on it, the carb is being supplied in HXDM specification.

This AMAC Brass carburettor was supplied for many vintage motorcycles. This carb was typically used in the 250 – 500cc  range of motorcycles, but not exclusively.

  • 1″: OD Throttle Valve
  • 1-11/16″: Spigot length from main body upright
  • 7/8″: Mount stub / Spigot Inside Diameter

If you are looking for a 1920’s vintage motorcycle brass carburettor that would have been used on many machines, then you are probably looking for an AMAC carburettor. At the time they had a variety of sizes in the range. The went from the largest (T10), through T15, T25 and T30.

In 1923 / 24 they offered four main variants:

  • H.Y.S.P was the Sporting model. It had a tube air intake and bottom feed float chamber.
  • H.X.S.P was also a Sporting model. It had a tube air intake and top feed float chamber.
  • H.Y.D.M was the Touring model. It was supplied with a mushroom air intake and bottom feed float chamber. (The Type 30 had a cap instead of the mushroom intake cover)
  • H.X.D.M. was the Touring model. It was supplied with a mushroom air intake and top feed float chamber. (The Type 30 had a cap instead of the mushroom intake cover)

Condition of this AMAC Brass carburettor :

This carb is supplied just as you see it- with a little patina. Great care has been taken not to remove all of the patina while cleaning and rebuilding the carb, as some people prefer them to look their age. There is a small area, where two fixings were fitted after the rebore, with two brass pins.

You can leave the carb as it is, or get it re-plated with nickel. It’s your choice.

It needs nothing. The float chamber is very clean and has a float and needle with clip.

Other parts replaced or refurbished include:

  • A new slide to match the re-bore.
  • A new top and top ring.
  • A new bottom main bolt
  • A new clip and clip bolt
  • A new complete tickler.
  • New needle
  • New springs

Essentially, you will have possibly the best T25 AMAC Brass carburettor available.

I have taken the carb apart and shown it in the pictures so that you can see what you are buying.

Other AMAC carburettors

I have a few vintage motorcycle Brass carburettors. They are mostly for mid-late 1920’s AJS and Nortons. If I have any left, they will be listed in the section titled AMAC
