Rudge 1930s Vintage motorcycle 4 speed gearbox
350? Ulster? Special? Maybe even the 250 Sports or Rapid. I’m not sure. But if you are looking at this, I imagine you already know if it suits your needs.
All three outer cases / covers have matching numbers: 42042. I have data for engine numbers, but nothing for gearbox numbers. I can’t be precise about year of manufacture.
The cases are grubby but in good condition. There are no cracks or welds and the clutch adjustment / guide spigot is still intact. Despite the corrosion on the iron components, things still move. I can easily turn the gearbox from either end.
I have taken the inspection cover off to show that it all appears to be there. It’s difficult to show all of the gears without completely disassembling the box. They are in there and seem to be in good condition.
I have photographed the ends of each shaft. They will need work. One fixing screw is missing for the inspection cover.
