Rudge Peugeot FN SV Pioneer Veteran Motorcycle Cylinder barrel 71mm 2.75hp 330cc 350cc 1903 to 1910.
This is another very early Pioneer / Veteran motorcycle cylinder barrel that I cannot positively identify. In fact I saw a picture of a 1908 Norton that had similar features. So, if you are looking at this and know what it’s off, please let me know.
For now, I will stick to just suggesting that it has design similarities (Just similarities) to very early FN, Peugeot and Rudge Pioneer motorcycles. The valve lifter is like Rudge, the head / barrel shape is much like FN and early Peugeot motorcycles.
Overall, this early side valve motorcycle engine head / barrel is in good condition. It comes with a piston (only one ring attached. The broken ring is included to help with pattern). The piston has a “2” on top. The piston also comes with the gudgeon pin. It’s not in great condition, but would help with dimensions for a new one. The fins are generally good, with one or two breaks. I have done my best to show damaged fins in the images.
The bore will need to be cleaned up but it does not have any serious scores or damage. The bore is about 71mm. Going by that dimension, I guess this is a 330cc / 350cc.
Anyway, you decide if it’s correct for your needs. I like it as an ornament and a testament to our early Pioneer veterans.
