Triumph Pre-Unit motorcycle nacelle top late 40’s early 50’s
This Triumph nacelle top is likely for the 3T Deluxe, T100, 6T Thunderbird with original part number H618
It’s very difficult to determine precisely which pre-unit Triumph motorcycle this nacelle top came off as the parts books only show a side view. All I can say is that I have seen an identical one fitted to a 1951 rigid T100 and that research suggests that the 3T Deluxe had it first fitted in 1949 when it was also fitted to the 6T Thunderbird.
There are many that look similar. Please look at it carefully before you buy. The larger holes are for the speedometer, ammeter, headlight switch, steering damper and a smaller switch in the centre. The handlebar apertures have been repaired nicely. There are correct holes for the side flashes. One other thing to note is that there is no hole or slot just in front of the speedometer aperture, for fastening the headlamp ring. I’ve no idea if this is correct, but let’s just say it’s different to later nacelle tops. You can always drill a small hole to make it work for you.
I have included an image of a similar top to a very original 1951 rigid T100 just to show you how it should look.
You can buy a new one elsewhere for a bit more. You will also need to pay a small fortune in shipping and import duties on top of the price. Also, this is an original part and made from the correct gauge steel.
