Triumph pre unit slick shift gearbox + new 4-spring performance clutch.
I bought this off a friend who also sold me a rebuilt, fancy, sprint TR6 650cc pre unit engine. (The engine is also for sale). Having kept these parts for a few years, I have had a change of plan. I have now sold the swing arm frame and a load of the parts are going as well.
GEARBOX: It’s a Triumph pre unit slick shift gearbox for the swinging arm models. It’s in good overall condition with no damaged cases all splines and kickstart shaft are good. My friend told me that he had rebuilt it. I have no reason to doubt the quality of workmanship as the work on the engine is excellent.
The gearbox turns freely.
The mounts are good.
This would fit most swinging arm model when you’d prefer to have the slick shift mechanism. T110, 6T (I had one on my 1956 6T Thunderbird), TR6, T120 Bonneville.
As I haven’t used this gearbox, I would recommend an inspection. As mentioned, it turns freely, so it all appears fine.
CLUTCH: I’m afraid I don’t know much about it. Other than the fact that he fitted it new and never used it. It was destined to be paired with a high performance sprint engine so I imagine it’s man-enough to cope with a standard TR5 / TR6 Trophy, or a Triumph 5T / T100, T110 / 6T Thunderbird.
If you try to buy a high performance 4-spring clutch new, they are somewhere between £450 and £700, so the combination of a Triumph pre unit slick shift gearbox + new 4-spring performance clutch at this price represents a huge saving.
