Triumph Tiger Cub 1954-58 Sports sloping petrol tank (also for 1954 Terrier T15)
F3505 Part.
This is one of those sought-after sloping “Sports’ tanks which were fitted to T20 Tiger Cubs between 1954 and 1958. In 1959, Triumph introduced various re-designs and it included the less-popular larger “humped” tank.
The “Sports tank”, with smaller capacity and sleeker profile, lived on though. Triumph continued to use it on various sporty models such as the T20C Mountain Cub (1957-59), the T20CA ( a low pipe version of the T20C 1958-59), the T20S Scrambler and T20W Woods models between 1959-61, the T20T Trials in 1961, T20SL Scrambler with Lights in 1961, T20SS Street Scrambler in 1962-65, T20SC and T20SR 1962-65, T20 Trials and T20S 1962-65, the infamous and sought-after T20SM and T20M Mountain Cubs 1964-67, and the French Army WD T20M also between 1964-67.
I have a few of these tanks and only need one. So the others are going up for sale.
This one might look like it has the metal equivalent of scurvy, but it’s not bad at all. Someone helpfully began to remove the paint and then got bored. So, it looks a bit scabby. Underneath all of that, it’s a solid tank. You will need to clean it out though. It doesn’t quite compete with maracas, but it certainly makes a sound when you shake it.
It comes as you see it. The mounts are OK and the fuel tap thread will need a clean.
