Velocette Dowty forks. Oleomatic air – Velocette MAC, MSS, KSS, Panther, Scott, Others.
I believe these Oleomatic forks suit Velocette iron MAC, iron MSS and most late KSS. I think they have been used on Panther models and some Scotts. To be sure that you are looking at the right parts, the numbers on the legs are: PC 1701-8 and PC 1701-7.
I understand that the Panther version of these were a different length to the Velocette / Scott ones.
Last time I looked, a set of the seal kits are available. These forks appear to have been rebuilt. But the lower legs move with ease. So, either they need a new seal kit, or they just need pumping up. Either way, I am selling them as if they need the seal kit.
I know that these Velocette Dowty forks are not very easy find, especially in decent condition. So, if you have an ongoing project that needs a set of oleomatic air forks, here’s your chance.
I also understand that some enterprising Scott motorcycle owners have come up with a sprung solution to these.
Condition of these Velocette Dowty forks
Please take a good look at the images regarding condition. They appear to have been rebuilt. They have been fitted to a bike and used as there are a few marks. They have all of the right parts in the right places including the top stem nut.
What you see is what you get. I don’t have the handlebar top-clamps, for example.
