Velocette MAC 350cc Engine. Prewar rigid frame engine with ali barrel and head. I know, the rigid ought to have iron barrels and head. When I suggest “prewar” I mean that the stamped engine number suggests this or during WW2.
As you can see, the timing gears etc are there. It’s in generally good condition with marks from use. But it doesn’t have anything nasty like obvious damage. It comes with the shock absorber as you see in the images.
It sucks, squeezes and blows. I haven’t tried the “bang” part. But it turns by hand and has compression.
Being sold at a very sensible price to make space.
The engine number is shown in the images. Velo numbers are closely guarded. But, from what I can work out, this engine dates between 1937 and 1944. The Mac numbers ran from 3012 in 1937 – 5516 in 1944. So, this engine number is either just pre-war of produced during ww2. Just an educated guess. Please verify this for yourself.
I happen to have an appropriate rigid MAC frame for this engine with iron barrel and head. If you want one with an ali barrel and ali head, I have one of those too, although it may not fit well inside this frame. Also, I have a gearbox and various other MAC parts. Please ask.
