Very first Model of Sunbeam Motorcycle fuel tank in original paint – The Sunbeam 1912 1913

NOW SOLD

Very first Model of Sunbeam Motorcycle fuel tank in original paint – “The Sunbeam” 1912 1913.

I believe this original Sunbeam motorcycle fuel tank is for the very first model that was launched in 1912 and ran through into 1913. It was the 2-3/4 H.P. model simply titled “The Sunbeam.

This fuel tank design is slightly different to the model that was launched in 1913. That model has a slightly different shape at the front and rear. This one is very angled.

If you are lucky enough to own a Pioneer, or veteran, Sunbeam motorcycle, this is a sensible buy.

Wanted: Pre-1915 Douglas motorcycle spare parts. Any Model – I am after spares or even an early Douglas project. If you have anything, please let me know.

I would consider a part-exchange against this tank.

Condition of the veteran Sunbeam Motorcycle fuel tank

Considering that this Sunbeam Motorcycle fuel tank is now about 110 years old, it is in remarkable condition. It retains some of the original paint including “The Sunbeam” script on each side.

You can see a very minor dink to the lower edge, just below the script. The paint is generally chipped but the tank is solid. On the underside, it’s surprisingly good. The screw holes all look decent. The threads will need a clean though. Look closely at a close-up of the underside. There appears to be two small repairs / fills, just forward of the two mount holes. Perhaps someone adapted the tank, but then returned it to original use?

The 2 caps are not original.

You get what you see. I don’t have the pump or taps.
