AJS 1927 350cc SV mod H5 engine with timing cover in good, unrestored, condition.
This is a decent original engine and would be great as a spare if you happen to own a 350 SV AJS from the mid-20’s.
The engine halves have matching numbers, indicating that they have remained as a pair since original build.
The engine number plate that shows the unique number is shown in the images and the original number tag also states that it is an “AJ Stevens & Co 1914 Ltd” engine.
Condition of the Vintage AJS 1927 350cc SV mod H5 motorcycle engine
The engine turns by hand. It is in unrestored condition. I have removed the head / barrel to reveal that the crank / connecting rod and piston exist. The piston is in good condition (except some light scoring as shown) and has all of the piston rings. The inside of the barrel looks nice. There are some chipped fins on the barrel, just under the head on the left side. I have shown it in the images. The head also has some fins missing. Please take a good look at the pictures.
This AJS 1927 350cc SV mod H5 engine with timing cover has the timing gears as shown in the images. I opened the cover and took some pictures. The valves all move as they should.
The lowest engine case bolt holes are entirely missing. It doesn’t seem to have affected the engine. (pictured)
