1930s BMW R20 rear final drive hub for sale – Also R23 R35 BMW prewar single cylinder motorcycles.
This is an original Cardan rear final drive gear hub for the 1930’s single cylinder BMW motorcycles, including the 200cc R20 Mono, 250cc R23 and the 350cc BMW R35.
It belongs to a friend who had a little R20 and bought this as a spare incase the original part broke. He tells me that the cast section that meets the drive shaft has a tendency to shear off. Fortunately, that hasn’t happened to this one. He has had a clear-out of spares as he sold the R20 some time back.
So, if you happen to own a running and riding R20, R23 or R35, this is a great chance to keep this as a spare. Call it an insurance policy that actually pays out! If you own it, you will probably never need it. When you sell the bike, you can sell the part. If you are unfortunate to break yours, well the policy paid out too.
PLEASE do your own research. I am only suggesting which models this part is for because the owner told me. I have shown two sets of numbers in the images. One is stamped on the outside (28616) and the other number is definitely BMW (204566 033 0).
Condition of the BMW R20 rear final drive hub
This original Cardan rear final drive gear hub for the 1930’s single cylinder BMW motorcycles, including the 200cc R20 Mono, 250cc R23 and the 350cc BMW R35 is in decent condition.
It’s not perfect by any means. But is is a usable part and the drive shaft “neck” is OK. I have shown the main threads. Part of the outer edge is slightly worn away. There are two very small chips on an outer lip. What you see in the images is what you get. I don’t have any other parts for this.
