BSA A7 A10 Ariel Huntmaster Lucas Automatic Advance/Retard Magneto timing mechanism, #47503
This Lucas Automatic Advance/Retard Magneto timing mechanism is suitable for the Lucas K2F magneto. I believe that it may also work with the BTH mags, but you will need to check that for yourself.
The fibre gear wheel has 44 teeth.
Is it good value? Well, yes!. You can buy a new one for £324, or you can have this one for a third of that price.
Condition of the Lucas Automatic Advance/Retard Magneto timing mechanism
This is an original item. It’s still a bit grubby and I have not tested it.
Please assume that you will need to take some of it apart to service it.
The fibre gear wheel could probably do with replacing. One of the teeth is not as good as the others. It will probably carry on working but as you will have the unit apart, you might as well replace the gear wheel. (someone is selling them on ebay for £12.95)
The only item that is missing, is the large “C-shaped” washer that goes under the bolt.
Fitting advice for the unit
Screw the centre bolt on to the shaft at the same time as you gently fit the unit on the taper, if you fit the unit first then attempt to tighten the bolt it will lock up.
