Burman 3 speed motorcycle 2 stud gearbox with clutch, gear handle, kick start lever (without foot extension)
The identifying marks are simply a number “01505” on the casing. From my own research, it looks like a gearbox that was supplied to many vintage motorcycle manufacturers from the 1920’s. As it’s a 2-stud mounting, it’s likely that it’s a lightweight, up to 350cc. I suppose it might suit larger capacity machines, but you will know if it suits your frame.
I have seen similar gearboxes on a few models including a 1922 Excelsior 2 3/4hp model, a rare “New Scale” from the same period. Interestingly, both of these bikes were fitted with the Blackburne 2 3/4hp motor.
Condition: Generally good. Obviously the clutch will need work. It has stood for quite a while and the plates will be seized. It comes with the belt drive pulley and chain wheel. The sprocket teeth will need cleaning but they are all there.
The cases are in decent condition. Bear in mind that this Burman gearbox is about 100 years old.
Original gear knob is split in half. However, it will glue back together nicely. I haven’t done it as you will need to do it when it suits you.
