Joseph Lucas #342 King of the Road Nickel plated carbide acetylene front lamp for flat tank vintage veteran motorcycles
This front light is one of a number from my collection. They are all now going up for sale as I have no need for them.
This Lucas front lamp is in nice used condition. It would suit a machine with a little patina. As you can see, there is no paint on the main body. It needs re-painting. However, the lens and the mirror are in decent condition. They appear to be original and don’t have any cracks. The hinge and clip fastening work well. The peak is a little damaged. I have shown it in an image. A good panel beater will sort it out. The burner wick is not there.
It’s a lovely size. The lens diameter is 4″ (about 110mm) and the lens aperture rim is just over 5″ (130mm).
These little lamps are hard to find now. They are especially difficult to find in this condition, with a little patina.
