Norton, Brough, Medium weight Vintage Sturmey Archer 3-speed CS gearbox C. Mid 1920s

Circa early to mid 1920’s. The number is CS 64?78 L (I can’t make out the middle number). However, from the data that I have gathered, the number puts the gearbox around 1921 / 22. See this page: Sturmey Archer gearbox models and dating by numbers

Usually used with flat tank Nortons. Known to have been used on Brough, Matchless, and others. The good thing about CS gearboxes is that they didn’t change much over the years. Consequently, a 1928 box ought to fit, and line up correctly, on a 1919 bike.

Overall, this gearbox appears complete. I have checked the cases and the cover for cracks. I haven’t spotted any. The gears all turn.

For peace of mind, consider that you will still have to take the gears out, check any bushes and shafts, re-grease and install.

Viewing: Please come and check it over before you buy. It is at PE28, near St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

Shipping: I usually ship to most destinations. If you don’t see a price, please ask. Thanks. International shipping available.

Collection: If you don’t want it shipped, I have plenty of space. If you can’t collect for a while, it’s not a problem. However, I will need to be paid very soon after the sale. Thanks.

Payment: Good old fashioned money on collection is preferred. I can accept payment through PayPal or by bank transfer as well.

Import Taxes: (I need to mention this as I had someone buy something from me and they were based in Europe. They thought I should list the item including all taxes and shipping. Considering import duties vary enormously, this is impractical even if it was possible). Please note that IMPORT DUTIES are not something I can control. If you are buying from outside the UK, there is a chance that you will have to pay import taxes. Import taxes vary from country to country. If there are charges to pay, it is the buyer’s responsibility to research the cost and pay the duties. The price that you see on my advert is for the item and not the item plus whatever taxes might be due.
