Original 1920s vintage timing covers for a New Imperial motorcycle Model 3 SV single.
It might suit other models of New Imperial. I happened to spot the same timing cover on a 1924 Model 3 single cylinder New Imperial. The cast number on the inside is 538 (I think).
New Imperial made quite a few model types in the early 1920’s. So, please take a close look at the images and decide for yourself if these original timing covers.
Condition of the timing covers for a New Imperial motorcycle
These timing covers for a New Imperial motorcycle are original and used. I have not polished the life out of them as some people prefer their engines to look like they have been around for 100 years. Once I remove the jaded look, you can never get it back.
They have a very small amount of corrosion on the underside of the inner cover has the fastening to the main case. It’s not significant and it is structurally sound. There is a little corrosion on the back of the inner cover. The inner cover has a damaged area close to the crankshaft. It could be repaired and no-one would see it. Finally, there is a wear mark on the outside of the cover. This is inline with the gear change rod.
Overall these timing covers for a New Imperial motorcycle are used and dirty but very difficult to find as original parts.
