1936 J.A.P. 250cc OHV Engine, 62,5 x 80mm. Originally specially prepared by J.A Prestwich to customer specifications. The * denotes the special preparation, as does the “S” in the last three digits of the engine number. Perhaps it was supplied as a race engine?
The number is PO / V50158 / SOF*
As you can see, this short motor comes with quite a few of the small parts. However, you will need to study the images to see what is available, and what is missing. Obviously, there is no top end.
The barrel has been well greased. The domed-top alloy piston (That is denoted as the “F” in the engine number) is +0.040. The fins are in good condition (no chips), other than the fact that someone has taken a vertical slice out of the fins at the rear.
The engine cases are in good condition and the case halves have matching numbers.
