Original steel BSA Flat tank motorcycle gas / petrol / fuel tank.
However you would like to describe it, it’s a flat tank for an early BSA. Not sure which model, but here are the approximate dimensions:
I’m no expert on early BSA’s but I’d have a guess that this is for a bike from the late 1920’s as the front is more curved than the earlier models. In fact, I’d go as far as say that I think it would suit a 1926 Model S26 Side Valve 557cc 4 1/2hp because the shape at the front matches and the oiler is on the left / front.

Width: At front, 8″, at rear 7 1/4″
Height (Just the tank and not the caps): 4 1/2″
Distance (C-to-C) between front mount holes: 3 1/4″
Distance (C-to-C) between rear mount holes: 3 1/4″
Distance (C-to-C) between front & rear mount holes: 40.1mm
Distance (C-to-C) between front and centre mount holes: 21.2mm
The tank is in decent condition. As you can see from the images, it has a ding on the left/ rear upper edge (as you sit on the bike). It also has two very small dings on the other side just near the cap. There are some other dings so please see the images. There are no obvious repairs and seemingly no evidence of past leaks. I’ve left it with patina, rather than remove all evidence of its past.
It comes with the single cap as you see in the images. It’s nice and oily inside.
