This is an early AMAC T30 vintage motorcycle brass carburettor with the original float bowl.
It comes with the highly sought-after mushroom “filter”. AMAC made two main types of brass carburettor for motorcycles. One had the “mushroom” air intake cover. This was what they called the “Touring model”. The other type has a long air intake tube. This was called the “Sporting model”.
This AMAC T30 vintage motorcycle brass carburettor is the Touring Model, with a bottom-feed float chamber.
The T30 stamps are usually on one of the bottom nuts. In the case of this carburettor, the T30 stamp is now too feint to be able to be certain of which year this carb was made.
AMAC didn’t change the core elements of the T30 model over the years. So, the outside diameter of the throttle valve remained as 7/8″.
I have looked very carefully on the nut facing where the main jet is seated. The only stamp that I can make out looks like “Y62”.
Dimensions are.
- Outside diameter of the throttle valve: 7/8″.
- Air intake inside dimension: 3/4″
- Outlet side (Inside dimension): 3/4″
- Outlet side spigot(Inside dimension for mounting): 1″
Condition of the AMAC T30 vintage motorcycle brass carburettor
It comes as you see it. I have taken it apart to show what you will get. The carb has a lovely patina and hasn’t been “restored”.
These small AMAC carburettors are a little hard to find. Here’s your chance to buy a spare. The slide is in reasonable condition, although there is a very small chip as shown in the images.
You will need to add some washers at the junction where the float chamber meets the carb body. The mushroom intake cover screws on but it could be better.
Other early Triumph parts.
Occasionally, I have some early Triumph parts. I used to have a Model SD and kept a stock of spares. They have slowly dwindled to very small item. However, I get offered parts regularly. So, please get in touch and let me know what you need. I
