Vintage or veteran motorcycle RFL road tax licence disc holder.
For those that love the detail, of course a veteran motorcycle didn’t require road tax until 1920. However, after that it was required. So, this lovely tax disc holder is as useful for a veteran motorcycle as it is for a vintage one. For our American cousins, antique motorcycles also apply.
Of course, it would suit later classic motorcycles.
I have had this in my collection of parts and accessories for a while. It was destined for my 1915 Douglas. However, it is way too nice for the little 2-3/4 HP Douglas as I have decided to preserve it, rather than restore.
So, this motorcycle RFL road tax licence disc holder is available. I can’t find another example to compare with, or find a maker. It is what it is.
It is very nicely plated. It has 3 small bolts holding the front to the back. As you can see from the images, it has a rubber gasket, glass and the inner backing is just a bit of card. Nothing fancy on the inside, just fit for purpose. The exterior is lovely.
The clamp is on the small-side for something like a girder fork blade. It is more suited to a mudguard stay or maybe a small bracket. It would best suit something around 1/2″.
I don’t really want to sell it as I like it. But I am never likely to use it as it is way too shiny for any of my bikes.
Dimensions:
- Diameter of the glass face displayed: 2-1/2″
- Total diameter: 4″
