1962 Panther 650cc Model 120 M120 short engine for sale.

Access to Phelon & Moore, Panther, motorcycle engine numbers is limited. So, I had to improvise when trying to work out if this is a M100 600cc sloper or a M120 648cc engine. Obviously, I could measure the barrel. But it doesn’t have one. So, apart from visual / styling changes, all I have to go on is two sets of numbers.

The engine number is 62 ZA 138 A. It take it that “62” is likely year of production. ZA seems to match other M120 Slopers. The M100 sloper from the 50’s and 60’s seems to have “MS” in place of ZA. 138 must be the sequential number and A seems to be common between the M100 and M120 Panther Slopers. If you’re a Panther vintage motorcycle expert, I’d love to know if I got it right.

Anyway, if you’re buying this bottom half, then please check that this really is the model that you want before you buy.

Condition: It’s free of any obvious major damage. There is a very small amount of ali corrosion on the outer tip of the timing casing and a very small amount on the bottom. It’s barely noticeable. It will need a clean as I have not opened the cases up. The crank moves freely and it comes with the connecting rod as shown.

I don’t have any other parts for this 1962 Panther 650cc Model 120 /  M120 engine.
