AJS Flat tank oil pump 1925 to about 1928, where the caps are both on the right.
I had trouble tracking one of these down. It’s a genuine original AJS 1920’s motorcycle hand oil pump. It has the “arm” that comes out of the top and reaches over the left side of the fuel / oil tank.
I have seen another version where the fixing flange is completely round. I am not sure which was earlier, this version with the edge cut off the flange, or the completely round version.
There are quite a few pictures here, including my amateur drawing to show the distance between the 3 fixing holes. (I know it looks a bit like a toilet seat). The 3 tank fixing holes are equidistant between the centres and measure 1.5″. The diameter of the pump tube that goes into the tank is 1.25″.
I haven’t tried it in oil but there seems to be plenty of spring pressure and there is a plunger inside. I don’t know if it should have a gauze filter, but would imagine that it’s easy to fit anyway. The “arm” would have a tap fixed to it. It would be a push-pull tap and relatively easy to source.
