AJS / Matchless 1949-1955 Inner & Outer timing covers with cast #016883 inside the inner timing cover behind the mag chain area. Apparently, the part for the inner cover is #010770.
Between 1949 and 1955, a new timing case was introduced which had more of a sweep to it so that it tapered at the top. This is one of those.
The Matchless part from 1952-55 is very slightly different. According to the parts book, its number is 018306.
I’m not really sure which model of AJS or Matchless it’s for. Possibly the G80?
This one has a Matchless cover. You decide if it’s correct for your needs.
It’s very clean as it has been restored. It also has 2 new bushes fitted.
