Connaught motorcycles. Hmm. Not much in the way of information out there in cyber-land. If you are the proud owner of a Connaught motorcycle, then you will probably appreciate having a spare engine.
They were established in 1910 and began manufacturing motorcycles in 1912. The finished under the name “Connaught” in 1926. Two-strokes were their thing with 293cc and 347cc engines, with a small Sturmey Archer gearbox c/w clutch and chain / belt drive. They liked to cover their options.
They did venture into 4-stroke engines and had Blackburne and Bradshaw connections.
This engine has a clear number stamped. The number is 2437. I’m told this dates the engine to 1924 but please verify this yourself. The engine has other stamped numbers. Please see the images. The engine case and barrel base also have the same number. I imagine this is similar to other manufacturers (like Norton during prewar manufacture of their engines) where the barrel and the case had matching numbers. So, I assume that the barrel and cases are the original ones.
The barrel diameter: 72.5mm
It is for sale as you see it. It turns by hand. Please study the images. The piston and connecting rod are in there as you can see in the images.
I don’t think this is expensive and is ideal for a spare.

Payment: Good old fashioned money on collection is preferred. I can accept payment through PayPal or by bank transfer as well.
Import Taxes: Please note that IMPORT DUTIES are not something I can control. If you are buying from outside the UK, there is a chance that you will have to pay import taxes. Import taxes vary from country to country. If there are charges to pay, it is the buyer’s responsibility to research the cost and pay the duties. The price that you see on my advert is for the item and not the item plus whatever taxes might be due.
