Big Bearing early 5T T100 500cc Pre Unit Triumph set matching engine cases.
OK, here’s where it gets tricky. The cases don’t have numbers on the primary side in the usual place. If you look at that spot carefully, you can see the dimples from the original casting, rather than the expected grinder marks.
Nothing tricky about that. They may have gone straight to a racing outfit.
Here’s the bit I’m on about. The cast number on the inside of the timing case is E2219. That would normally refer to 1950-52 500cc cases with the small bearing. Yet, it is clear, from the small bulge, that this is a big bearing engine. The 1954 cast number for that side of the engine was E2220. So, I am presuming this is a very early big bearing engine from around 1953.
The engine case halve have numbers that match. So, they’ve stayed together since build.
Ignoring all of that, here is a set of Triumph pre unit 500cc Twin cases in big bearing guise and looking for someone to build up and run.
The cases are in decent condition. The screw holes for the sump will need attention. One is blocked up and one is a little oval. The internal oil line will need cleaning out too.
