Desert Sled padded single saddle with Bates-type rear lip – Triumph BSA AJS Norton etc

I bought this some time ago when I had plans to build a Triumph T100 desert sled. That plan has walked on by so this very nice desert sled padded single saddle with Bates-type rear lip is now available.

It cost me a small fortune. You can have it for a slightly smaller fortune.

It has never been used, let alone fitted. The seat pan has a few marks from storage. The fixings are set up for Triumph but may suit others.

If you are building a 1950’s / 1960’s Triumph Desert Sled, then this seat is a very good reproduction of the original Bates short-style sled seat. This one was made in the USA and someone else imported it to the UK. The seat pan is metal (it’s a decent thickness) and it has a fabricated longitudinal support for added rigidity.

The cover is screwed onto the seat base, so you can remove and replace with ease.

It comes with custom hinges that suit the Triumph 500 / 650 machines. Take a close look at the underside and you will see the rubber bumpers. This makes a great single sled saddle for the T100, T120, T140, TR6 etc.

Dimensions are approximate:

  • Length 19″
  • Width (widest) 11″
  • Height is very approximate, 4.5″
